About
Tim Foster, Registered Piano Technician
PIANO SERVICE EXPERIENCE
Before I pursued piano technology, I completed a Bachelor of Music from Gettysburg College and then a Master of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Maryland College Park. For years I worked as a full time piano instructor in my private studio as well as at Gettysburg College. Over time I began to become increasingly fascinated by the piano itself and this desire led me to join the Piano Technicians Guild, become a Registered Piano Technician (RPT), tune, service and rebuild pianos while also maintaining a private studio. As a professional pianist, accompanist, instructor and technician, I feel that the intersection of these vastly different disciplines which are also intimately entwined have uniquely positioned me to help pianists meet their goals for their instrument, even discovering what they did not previously think was possible.
A Registered Piano Technician has passed rigorous examinations on the construction, tuning, and service of pianos. The Piano Technicians Guild has created these examinations so that the public can have confidence in the skill of the technicians they certify.
